Kilroy was simple cartoon-like graffiti, sometimes with
the words "Kilroy Was Here". He appeared in early 1940, showing up anywhere in the world that American servicemen were assigned. The images were scratched onto any available surface with anything that was handy. Servicemen, seeing "Kilroy Was Here", knew that they followed their brothers footsteps. The images became a symbol and morale booster, expressing courage and pride. Kilroy continued to appear widely throughout American culture and today has an honored place on the World War II Memorial, in Washington. Kilroy is 15" tall with his koala-like face, has five joints, armature, glass eyes, is made of mohair with leather pads. OOAK.
